Eligibility Guidelines

Before calling our hotlines, save time and determine whether you’re eligible for our services.  To be eligible, you must be in our service area and meet age, citizenship, and income requirements.  Answer the following questions to determine if you are eligible.

Age Requirement:  Sixty (60) years or older.
Service Area (you must live in one of these cities or towns: Acton, Arlington, Ashland, Ashby, Bedford, Bellingham, Belmont, Boston, Braintree, Brookline, Cambridge, Canton, Carlisle,  Chelsea, Cohasset, Concord, Dedham, Dover, Everett, Foxborough,  Framingham, Franklin, Hingham, Holbrook, Holliston, Hopkinton, Hudson, Hull, Lexington, Lincoln, Malden, Marlborough, Maynard, Medfield, Medford, Medway, Melrose, Millis, Milton, Natick, Needham, Newton, Norfolk, Norwell, Norwood, Plainville, Quincy, Randolph, Revere, Scituate, Sharon, Sherborn, Somerville, Stoneham, Stow, Sudbury, Wakefield, Walpole, Waltham, Watertown, Wayland, Wellesley, Weston, Westwood, Weymouth, Winchester, Winthrop, Woburn, and Wrentham.

Citizenship/Residency Requirements
Due to our federal funding, we cannot give advice to undocumented callers. If you are not a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident (“green card”) and have a legal problem, you may call Greater Boston Legal Services at 617-371-1234. Victims of domestic violence or of human trafficking may call LARC regardless of their citizenship status.
Income Eligibility (2013):

Your gross household income should not exceed 300% of the current U.S. poverty level–exact numbers are listed in the chart below.

Elderly clients are not subject to the income guidelines.
